Description
Preludio, Fuga e Variazione (Op. 18) by C. Franck
Transcription for Harp, Flute and Cello by Yuri Guccione and Giovanna Di Lecce
Preludio, Fuga e Variazione (op. 18) is a composition for organ written between 1860 and 1862 by the French composer César Franck (1822-1890) and dedicated to his colleague and friend Camille Saint-Saëns. In the present transcription the flute, like a small organ pipe, recreates a sonorous, temporal and nostalgic bridge; the cello supports the Trio projecting it into a sound dimension of melodic depth; the harp is able to innovate the “old” organ timbre and to amalgamate the flute and the cello in a crystalline bubble of pure sound. Three instruments that respect tradition and renew Preludio, Fuga e Variazione, giving new light to Franck’s masterpiece.
